If (1) you clearly explain to the punters that they will lose if they come into the scheme late and (2) give them all the data about how many people are already in, what's the problem?

The problem is that the legislation specifically names Pyramid schemes as being "in all circumstances considered unfair."

This is terrible news for decent, honest, transparent Ponzi scheme operators whose livelihood is taken away by a dictatorial government whose aim seems to be to stifle innovation in the fleecing-people industry.

A lot of people confuse MLM schemes and companies which are perfectly legal with 'pyramid selling' which is illegal.
MLM companies such as Amway, Avon, Herbalife provide a living for lots of people. Many who start fall by the wayside but l have known a few who started small and have done very, very well.
Unlike those who drop out (and maybe make little or no profit) the successful ones treat their venture like a proper business and work at it solidly day after day week after week.
So far as l know they don't get paid for introducing people but they do get commission from the sales of their protégé.
