We've had Dysons for years...and although the DC07 (IIRC) with the rocket body was crud, we've had no major problems with them in general. They are a bit fragile looking..perhaps my missus is particually careful. She hoovers once or twice every day, so they've certainly done the work.

but...as the onsite engineer, i replaced 2 in the last year, repaired the winding mechanism several times on different ones, replaced switches once or twice and threw a not so old one away because the motor went

It wasnt much dearer to replace the whole thing as buy a motor.
They're good, but maybe not as good as they used to be.
