Hi i want to buy a stylish good quality ladies bike for commuting or cycling around. Having looked in Evans and Halfords - i don't want a racer bike or a boy racer mountain bike. But i want a light weight stylish bike - say in the £300 - £400 price range. i am not a granny so don't want one with a wicker shopping basket. is there such a bike?

All I would say on the Pashley front is that they can be very heavy so if it's lightweight you want you may want to try something else. If you don't need a step through don't discount men's bikes. I have a Specialized Sirrus, it's light, has flat handlebars, handles a rack and panniers well and looks handsome.

I got myself a Ridgeback Meteor and I must say I'm quite impressed. It's a very decent bike, and it comes with rack and mudguards fitted already, so there's no extra costs. The bike has good brakes, it's quite lightweight and it took 15 minutes off my commuting time

I would post a SIrrus link but it doesn't have a step through, this one does though....

Hey!

I can only second the Trek 7.3. Bought one for my wife and it's great: light enough, pretty good components considering, sturdy and reliable but also versatile (bit of light touring, racks for shopping, etc.). Very happy about that purchase and would recommend the bike wholeheartedly...

Picked one up last week - I've had a blast on it although it's too small for me !
Looks funky and it's easy to ride. It's got the same drivetrain as my Hybrid which means it's solid. She won't be going out in the rain unlike myself so it should last for many years.
Light enough too to put on the roofbars and we have a rear child seat on it.

Dear Jimboalee (i cant seem to reply to you direct)
thank you - the bike certainly looks in amazing condition. it looks like you are in solihull - i am based in london - you might be better off advertising it forsale in local news agents.
best wishes kath
