Phew what a weekend.
Will try and made this as short as possible but a lot had go on.
So the joiner turned up Saturday, lots of banging, sawing drilling etc so we decided to bugger off out for a couple of hours. On our return, we immediately noticed that damage had been done to our plastic roof as a result of them putting timber up underneath it.
So I asked nobby if he could possible spare me 5 minutes of his time to come and have a look at the damage. He immediately said it was 'already there', without coming to look, which pissed me off as I've got no reason to lie and it was obvious that damage was highly likely. I therefore took the liberty to inform him of the technology involving digital cameras. It was obvious I wasn't going to get any joy so rang the insurance company and informed them.
Later on in the afternoon, we could hear them talking and discussing the roof. It sounded like the joiner was not entirely happy with how things were going but he was told to 'just get on with it'.
We managed to speak to the joiner as he was leaving (when we were told in the beginning not to 'hinder' him, we were about to find out why....). We starting telling him that we wanted to get ours sorted at the same time and that previous roofers had said that they BOTH needed to be done at the same time or it wouldn't work. He told us that nobby had said that we
never intended to get ours sorted.
So now I'm up on the ceiling, insensed at the cheek to bullshit like this. He spots us talking to the joiner and out it pops. Cue raised voices, pointing fingers blah blah. He again said to my OH, 'It's nothing to do with you' so I did a very silly thing and started going the game which ended in me telling him to F off. As soon as I said it, I knew I'd cocked up so did a runner into the house to keep out of more trouble.
The OH managed to sort out that the joiner came in Sunday morning to have a look at ours.
The joiner (for some unknown reason

) decides Sunday morning that he doesn't want to help us. I said, ok fair enough, but you have damaged our side so you need to sort it out. Blank look. I also apologised to nobby for swearing at him as I was ashamed of that.
So by this time, I'd really had enough and could have easily started blarting. Then we hear a voice we recognise. My Dad had turned up and got invited in. 30 mins later, my Dad comes round and explains that our roof is coming off Friday and is going to be sorted out. I was gobsmacked. Nobby had said he will get all the timber and even offered to sort out our electrics.
I told my Dad that the joiner had refused to help us. The reason the joiner doesn't want to help us is because .................. he doesn't want to deal with women and will only do the work through my Dad. I feel like telling him to sod off then but nose, cut off and spite jump to mind.
I'm still not convinced that it's going to be a case of alls well that ends well. I just hope that we not left with a room with no roof on at the weekend.
