Okay, when it comes to paying him for the work tell him you only deal with women and get him to send his missus or girlfriend round to pick up the money.

Like it Shaun. But, but ... don't forget he is a very sensitive little soul. I thought I'd Feng Shui the outhouse prior to him arriving and throw rose petals up the drive. What a palava over nothing really. If Nobby had have given us more notice, the new roof would have been on and sorted by now.

The reason the joiner doesn't want to help us is because .................. he doesn't want to deal with women and will only do the work through my Dad.

We've had two sets of builders who have done work on our current house. Both lots would check things over with Mrs 3BM before they did something but then they'd always ring me at work to make sure it was ok with a man!

Just try not to take it too personally - it's another universe in the building trade, some of them are so out-dated they still measure in cubits!!

I suspect the nobby neighbour stuck his oar in and mentioned to the joiner/roofer not to deal with you after "discussions" just to be spiteful. From what you have told us, I wouldn't put it past him.
