Now, if we all coloured ourselves in like tarmac, then there would be no need for any white bike paintings. All a driver would have to do is notice the road surface and he'd be reminded of us, and would take more care.

I don't know. Having the signs on the road at least brings cyclists within a whisker of the drivers consciousness. It might also reduce the likelihood of a driver having the 'cyclists shouldn't be on the road' attitude.

The guy in the Merc? He did a dodgy overtake on the solid white lines a few moment before the video starts. That's Harrow College on the left, drivers love to stop there to drop people off!

EMD you ride just like me when I am in the 'grove' but you do have to think that a car/van stop a LOT faster then we can. So what I have started to do is ride where there lights are (if I am behind them) so at least I have a chance to miss them. As one or two have brake tested me in the past.

Actually, BM, that go me thinking. I remember seeing that shirt that cyclists can wear that shows their speed to people following (not sure how that helps). But what if the shirt showed a count of how many cars you had passed that day. Now that would be a shirt I would buy!
