Just came across these in the woods - they look like regular mushrooms. Should I fry 'em up, or will they kill me?

Take them to your local chemist, they should be able to help you. Don't take any chances.

There was a guy lived in a village near me who wrote a book all about foraging for fungi..
Guess what he died from eating a poison variety..
So Do not eat unless you are 100% sure....and even then you may get cought out.
You may be lucky and just have a feckin amaizballs trip or you may die.

Unless you can positively identify any fungi - which can involve a spore trace - do not take the risk of ingesting them.
I can positively identify about half a dozen species which are safe to eat, because they don't look like any others. I wouldn't entertain the idea of 'suck it and see' with anything I wasn't sure of.
Some mushrooms can look identical to the ones you normally eat but can be poisonous.

They could be St George's mushrooms edible

Just been out in the garden and picked this. Got a crop of them popping up near my shed. Looks like a field mushroom. Smells like a field mushroom. Would I eat it?
No!
It's a Yellow Stainer.

I have a friend who's a fun guy (Fungi, gettit?) expert. He advises extreme caution as several edible varieties have deadly lookalikes.

So my advice is eat them and if you don't come back on line we know they were poisonous.

OR If you are chicken livered, like me, you could not eat them because we aren't sure.
