can i put any cassette on my bike

hi everyone

i have just replaced the chain on my bike and it keeps jumping so i gather i am ready for a new cassette aswell.
the question i have is this,,,,,if i have shimano xt rear derallieur do i have to put an xt or shimano cassette on,,,chain reaction are selling a brilliant cassette with great reviews for a brilliant price but its sram,,,can i run this with xt

You can use Sram in place of Shimano.

The cassettes are measured by the number of teeth on the smallest and largest cog such as 11/25 12/32 etc a sram one with the same number of teeth as the old shimano one will be ok.

I've just had to do the same - put a new cassette on after changing the chain - Chain Reaction had a fantastic deal on the cassette I got, so I bought 2!

Mine was a straight SRAM SRAM swap though...

You don't need to fit XT just because that came off. I use the HG50 the cheapest of the range after bending the teeth on a higher spec and much more expensive cassette.
