Googling to see if I could get rid of something called HP Power Assistant, I found a message that said you could get rid of 'everything that starts with HP, unless it ends in driver'. Is that the case? Can I safely get rid of all this:

I'm nothing like an expert so don't listen to me. But I'd check my restore points first and then click into the top of ''lists.'' Delete the fattest file first and if there are no troubling side effects, continue until you lose patience with the law of diminishing returns.

That can all go except the webcam driver and the HP Protect Tools as I think that's needed otherwise the TPM device may not be recognised correctly...assuming you have TPM.

Oh and the wireless assistant will need to say if you use it to configure your wireless network access. If you are using the built in Windows tool then it can go.

If you uninstall those programs they will still be there when you do a factory reset. Just unistall what you don't want, then create a restore point and name it. Now you will Know that is the last point of restoring your PC before the bloatware comes back.

PS make sure you put in all your updates first before removing bloat, as i found out to my frustration.

Thanks all. I don't know whether I use wireless assistant, and I had to google to find out what a TPM device is...I still don't know whether I have one, so I think I'll err on the side of caution: set a restore point then delete all but the webcam driver, the HP Protect Tools and wireless assistant, and see if anything changes. My guess is not.

That should be fine.
