Fingers and thumb round hose ready to pull it off the valve, other hand to close the lever. I know, I know, I should have learnt years ago but I bet most of us have done it more than once.

Get a proper old fashined one with a flexible adapter/connector. £2 at the moment at Halfords. Much kinder to your tyre valves as well.

Happened once, very painfully. Now I just push it with fingers well away as I know it snaps shut!
