Can someone help me to justify to spend over £100 for a pair of waterproof overt trousers?

I had the boil in the bag on this morning, head wind, 10miles.... very hot inside...

Maybe the type of trousers you are wearing underneath are not helping.

layer up to stay warm enough, lycra and the related fabrics never get more than damp and dry very quickly, something vaguely wind proof and a buff makes a huge difference, I appreciate we're all different but I find the beginnings of cold makes me ride harder, even in the freezing cold last year I was fine in bib longs and two layers, one and a nightvision top if it was wet, and then I was nearly always too warm

I'm the same, I have a 12 mile eachway commute. Even in the depths of winter, bib longs, overshoes, montane Velo windproof jacket over a layer or 2 depending on how cold and a buff and I am sorted. I bought waterproofs when I started commuting wore them once and never again. Even bought an e-vent jacket, but have never worn it. I think as long as you stop the wind getting you to chill you, even with moderate effort you should be keeping warm!

I bought my last set in here.... Adidas Goretex Paclite Jacket for £30 and a pair of Paclite trousers for £25

They often have no idea at all what they are selling!

Mr Summerdays has both eVent trousers and jacket, though Endura no longer make his eVent trousers and he is going to buy a new pair (well I think he has bought and is expecting them to arrive today maybe) of Endura Venturi eVENT - so slightly different. He washes them every so often with the special washing stuff (I leave it to him). I'm going to try his cast off's to see what they are like.
