This horrified me at the time. A lot of British content appeared on Australian TV and I'd often sit and watch with my parents. I wouldn't stay in the room when this was on.

Was it really acceptable, even in the 70s?

(I'm not saying Australian TV is perfect. )

I got taken to the 'black & white minstrel show' by the school when I was ten (School trip to London) it was crap, the only good 'act' was Larry Adler
