What a fantastic thread although it makes me realise that I am indeed a bit of a grumpy old man.

Or at least I'm getting there.
I know what you mean, I do not think it was better back then, simpler and if I could mix a bit of those times and todays for my kids I would be happier. I have a particular dislike for the technology, but looking back at the 70's advertising I am glad my 3 daughters are not growing up in that time, but todays technology poses other problems and pressures too. Same for every generation really just different problems.

Yes I did it. I think it was the thing to do in the late 60's and. Early 70's. It doesn't make sense unless you let your jeans dry on you.
I now find that jeans shrink after they have been washed and will stretch back again once worn.

Jeans - Levis - were only available at the workwear shop. That's where I bought my first pair. Hard wearing clothing for workmen.
