Muddy professional footballl pitches
That is a brilliant one - slips the memory the bits of greenery around the edges, centre circle bit of penalty box and the corners! The rest was a quagmire. Don't know about the pro's but it was a brave kid who decide to header a ball in the second half of a rainy day game. I can remember my neck concertinaing under the weight of the leather football and making a mental note to duck next time. Used to love the slide tackles though.

Not sure about this not having any kids who play football these days, but the looking back and seeing your 11 year old Goalkeeper in a full size goal was a sight to behold and yet still made saves. Why did the PE teachers just not instruct everyone to fire balls high and about 3ft either side!

I must still be young, as I cannot remember some of those listed.

Footballs that weighed far more than the modern lightweight jobs, especially when wet.

Home made go carts with pram wheels.

Loads of ammunition still laying about from the war.

Putting said ammunition in a vice and whacking it with a hammer.

When the neighbours put an old TV out for the dustmen, taking pot shots at the screen with catapults.
