Can you put a step through cycle on an indoor trainer?

Mrs Oldhippy would like to build up a bit of fitness indoors if she can't get out. She has a new step through cycle and neither of us have any experience with an indoor trainer and wonder if a cheap one will allow her to Poole indoors.

Yes, make sure you have a suitable quick release, and possibly fit an indoor training tyre too, so the trainer doesn't shred the original tyre

If it's a step-through check that it has a quick release rear axle, not bolted. You get a special QR with the trainer but a nutted axle won't work.

Shouldn't have any problems with a wheel on trainer - for reference the Tacx T2240 has three setup options allowing for 26", 27.5" or 29"/700c wheels to be used. I'd imagine from the way it's put together that most of the Tacx wheel on trainers are setup the same way so if the step through isn't a 700c wheel it's still perfectly doable.

They do work slightly better with QR wheels as they supply a QR to properly mount the wheel securely, but Tacx do sell trainer axle nuts separately that you can use as a direct replacement if it is a nutted wheel.
