I took my wedge bag off the bike other day and was staggered at the weight of it.

I thought I'd see if I could throw out anything not essential .
heres a before and after picture.
Wedge1.jpg

Wedge2.jpg

Weight before 460 gms
Weight after 226 gms
Thats a saving in un necessary weight of 234 gms thats more than the weight of my new Ritchey alloy seatpost or a 9 speed cassette

Now there is space to fit my cell fone in the wedge too which will make a more comfortable jersey.

I removed:
1. spoke key never used in last 15 years
2. 6mm allen key ,only need 5mm now for whole bike.
3. chain tool ,never used, added a Wippex type link
4. £6.00 coin replaced with £10.00 note
5. 1x tyre lever (only ever needed 2x levers)
6. Changed 100gm tube for a 65gm tube
7. swopped tube repair kit for mini version.

adding a further 43gms saved with new seatpost this morning thats a grand total of 277gms Wow:ohmy:;)

I really must go and tidy the garden ,fix the shed roof and paint the hall groan

What sort of colour is groan?

You could also clean the windows inside, and dust along the top of the doors and door frames, clean the fridge.

Then you can have a cup of tea.

Of course, the law of Sod dictates that the next time you go out, you're going to snap your chain, and end up with a broken link that can only be removed with a chain tool.......

I did that one time, getting my bike ready for my first TT.
Bottle cage off, bolts off, saddle bag, valve caps, and other stuff i didnt need.
I even taped the geared cable to make them look more aero;)
And took off a few grammes:laugh:

mix of green and brown?

you can cut the allen key to length - that one looks like a long arm version; unecessary.

I wonder if you can get Ti allen keys?

Hang on I find if you break a nine or ten speed chain you need to replace the whole chain no?

I smiled to myself when I saw what you kept in your bag. Maybe I should take a picture of mine. Albeit mine is bigger and on the handlebars.

Rainjacket
wet wipes ( I heard you can sometimes get dog poo in your face)
hankies
mobile phone
hair brush ( yes really )
lipstick
glasses
sun tan lotion
fruit
chewing gum
sweets

Did you get your housework done peanut?

;-)
