Vaguely considering general direction for this summer and wondering about heading further south in France. Done down to La Rochelle level, EV 6, and north of that area too many times.

I'll be on my recumbent trike so tree roots, narrow paths, gravel, etc. not good.

In past years talking to others cycle touring they've commented that one half is OK, other not so well suited (roots, narrow, etc.). But I can't remember which bits people said would be OK.

Qu: Is any of it OK for recumbent trike, which you bits are not and are there viable alternatives eg on roads using cycle.travel to find "paved routes"?

Thanks
Ian
nb I have been watching the C4 TV series Two Men in A Bike but can't get much of an impression about the path from the peograms.

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
From memory, what was said on the show and checked online, the canal du midi is almost 200 years older than the canal du Garonne, so I believe north of Toulouse has the wider, flatter towpath, but I'm also interested to hear from those who have tried with a less usual bike.

Towards the eastern (Med) end there were sections that were not very rideable on our heavily loaded tourers when we were that way back in 2016. When it got a bit rough we just took to nearby roads, none of which were remotely busy and absolutely fine for pleasant cycling.
