Hi all

I am looking to get a Cannondale caadx tiagra 2014 bike but my local shop won't have any in for a month. They do have a caadx 105 but I prefer the colour of the tiagra. The shop has offered to split the extra cost with me so it's only another £50 but will I notice a difference. I am 35 and not had a bike since my bmx back when I was 9.
So the question is should I hold out and the one I really like based on colour or should I pay the extra for the 105. What are the differences between the 2 and would they be noticeable.

Should have mentioned I intend to mainly cycle on roads and cycle paths. Don't really like the look of hybrids hence opting for a cyclocross.

It's worth the extra for the 105 IMO, BUT, as you've got no comparison then no you won't notice a difference between the two.

However, there is a valid argument that if you are not 100% happy with your choice then you just won't use it as much.

Is it proper 105?

What I mean by that is, is the difference a full 105 finishing kit? More often than not a bike described as "105" will be some 105 and some "other" most notably the "other" being the cassette and chainring.

I suspect the difference is probably the shifters and maybe the mechs.

I would pay £50 for the better shifters alone because they are aesthetically better than tiagra. There really is little difference between the rest apart from a marginal weight saving.

Thanks for the replies so far. Is it a proper 105? I don't even know what that means. I am new to this and getting the on the cycle2work scheme.
Are these generally good bikes. I've heard of Cannondale hence the reason for going for it.
I like the colours of the tiagra and had my heart set on it but thinking I should just go for the better one. Maybe it's fate.

I've got Tiagra on my crosser and 105 on my van nic Yukon .... Go for the 105, the difference is clear and worth the £50. Better feel and crisper shifting.

Don't go for a bike you're not happy with and don't like the look of, you won't ride it as much.

But, if you are happy with both, the extra for 105 is worth it

Nice! A fellow weegie! I've bought two of my bikes from Dales and find their service excellent, and also after you've bought the bike their service remains excellent. Not a cannondale in sight in there though! Bought once from Evans cause Dales didn't have any stock and their aftercare was so poor! I've never been in Billy Bislands.

I'm in the west end of Glasgow, whereabouts are you?
