105 has a much cleaner look with the cables tucked neatly away under the bar tape, almost worth the 50 quid for that

When I went for my last bike I wanted tiagra and the price was about what i wanted to spend, didn't like the colour thou and went for the 105 as it looked much better imo :girl:

105 over Tiagra for sure. Better still, find a bike you want with Sram or Campy groupsets if you can. A far superior mechanical experience IMO (faster, snappier, more connected, and considerably better ergonomics both in terms of grip and the way you shift gears the gears). Shimano for electronic. It's all personal opinion of course, but if you're sold on that bike 105 is worth the extra.

Thanks for the replies so far. Is it a proper 105? I don't even know what that means. I am new to this and getting the on the cycle2work scheme.
Are these generally good bikes. I've heard of Cannondale hence the reason for going for it.
I like the colours of the tiagra and had my heart set on it but thinking I should just go for the better one. Maybe it's fate.

A "proper 105" would be a full 105 groupset, i.e. derailleurs, crank, cassette, brake calipers, brake shifters and chain.

I've just looked at Evans website and the only difference between the CAADX Tiagra and 105 is that the 105 version of the bike has 105 derailleurs and 105 brake shifters. That's it, the bikes are identical apart from that.

If you really want to you could price the difference in prices for the 3 parts easily online. The price difference will be greater than £100.

See my post and Potsy's post above. The 105 shifters are much nicer aesthetically. IMO you will feel little mechanical difference between the two types (I have both).

I have a bike with Tiagra and another with 105, the only difference for me is the 105 looks nicer, I'd pay £50 extra for the 105^_^.
I considered buying a CAADX earlier this year and would have bought the Tiagra purely because overall it looked better, to me.

Nice! A fellow weegie! I've bought two of my bikes from Dales and find their service excellent, and also after you've bought the bike their service remains excellent. Not a cannondale in sight in there though! Bought once from Evans cause Dales didn't have any stock and their aftercare was so poor! I've never been in Billy Bislands.

I'm in the west end of Glasgow, whereabouts are you?
I'm in the south side

The newer 10sp tiagra works perfectly. I have it on a bike and it shifts just as as well as my ultegra. The only differences really noticeable are cosmetic, especially the cables on tiagra shifters and the gear indicators. Always get the best you can afford but don't knock tiagra, it works ;)

You have, always buy the best you can afford.

I totally agree and always do go for the best my budget allows. I just really really like the red in the Tiagra. Wonder if i can call Cannondale and see if they will send me some red stickers
