Cannondale v Merida

Hi,

i`m in the process of vastly up-grading my road bike and have sat on the following two bikes and really liked them. Both qualify for the bike2work scheme as they are both under the £1,000 mark but which one do you think is best?

I`m not as technically minded as everyone else, bit of a returnee newbie if that makes sense but Shimano 105 on the Merida is decent enough isn`t it?

Anyway, here are the two bikes - constructive comments well appreciated!

Compare the geometries. The Cannondale Synapse is a shopping bike, the Merida may not be!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Try em both and see which you prefer , both are good bikes .
The merida might have the edge on spec but cannondale frames are highly praised so if you plan to keep the bike a while and plan to upgrade it might be an option.
Tiagra vs 105, well basically the only difference is that tiagra has cables that come out out the side of the shifter like 2300 while 105 has the cables concealed under the bar tape .Upshot is the 105 might look a bit cleaner but otherwise there's not a lot in it as tiagra is basically last years 105.

It is true that the merida looks a racier geometry but a bike that is comfy to ride can be more important than how much "ass up eyes down" you can get .
If i had the money ..........

What do you ride at the moment? The Synapse is a relaxed geometry bike and the Merida is a more racier postion. The Cannondale Supersix is the Cannondales version

I sat on one of these on a turbo on Saturday lurvely, just have to get my wallet out now, and add the spider rings and black saddle

BigTam had a Merida Scultura 905 with Ultegra Di2 gears. A lovely bike and at £1,250 a real bargain. It might be worthwhile looking at it if he still has it.

oh go on! Seriously though find a shop that will at the least put it on a turbo for you, or let you out on a ride. Get a feel for what kind of bike that will be best for you.
