I heard that someone had took a tumble on one of my local CC's club runs on Sunday, nothing unusual in that but what I did come across was someone in the group had taken pictures of the faller while they're being treated by paramedics (fortunately it wasn't serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital), clearly in a some distress. Then to top it off, the same person took a selfie with other members of the group with a Police car in the background! When I saw the pics, I was appalled and if it was me having fallen, I'd have shoved the camera/phone where the sun doesn't shine.

I was thinking about renewing my subs, having not done so this year. I don't think I'll bother if that's the sort of rider they're attracting.

Bit different that one to the OP I think, Kittel hadn't crashed he was just f*cked after a sprint. Not condoning it, just don't think it's as ghoulish as snaps of a crash victim.

I'm pretty sure the lad apologised, Kittel was gracious about it and the "Twitterstorm" moved on. Probably to the colour of dresses or something.

What is this fascination of taking photographs rather than trying to help someone or alert the emergency services, we live in a crazy world these days.:headshake:

Given that the paramedics and police were already in attendance I think neither would be of great help in this instance' what is it with people these days that they can't read a thread properly?

Yes I know the circumstances... just the selfie thing fits..

I wasn't actually referring to the Macel Kittel incident or the OP'S post but the general attraction of taking photos first then perhaps helping after.

No shortage of dilberts out there.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's bad form to do it and I forgot about the incident with Kittel, no accounting for people's lack of braincells....

I had a bad fall and had a compound break of both my radius and ulna, and tbh, I'm a bit gutted that there are no photos of my bent forearm with bones sticking out

You also mentioned that it was somebody else in the group, you don't really know their relationship, etc, and it could have just been a bit of fun. A friend broke his ankle in a bike crash, many photos were taken while waiting for an ambulance.

I was MTBing with my cycling group a couple of years ago and someone hit the ground in rather a dramatic way, cutting her leg down to the bone. A couple of us patched her up whilst waiting for the ambulance (the paramedics said we did such a good job that after a quick look, they left our work alone for the ambulance trip) and once they gave her some gas, she was as high as a kite and asked me to take a photo of her on the stretcher. I did so, then showed her once she was home and she was shocked as she had no memory of asking me. She also flirted outrageously with the paramedics and was pretty embarrassed when we told her about that as well. I never realised what an effect the shock, adrenalin, pain and then pain relief can have.

When Gti Junior nutted a tree and knocked himself out I was so distressed that my last thought was to take a photo of either him or the poor tree.

I believe this was the case after the alton towers incident, one of the victims was screaming at someone taking pictures to call for an ambulance and the prick person with the camera just walked off in a daze.

I think the whole photo thing needs to be judged on each situations merits, If I had fallen but was Ok with nothing major to worry about I wouldn't mind friends taking a picture to look back on and laugh at. It's just when people need urgent attention and people go for their camera on the phone instead of the dial pad.
