Although not really the answer to your problem, earplugs must surely rank as being one of the greatest inventions in the history of humanity!

Don't always stop the noise reacing the ears though & if you're watching/listening to something else its counter productive.
Its like having one of those cars that you can "feel", long before you can actually hear or see it. 115 decibels is loud enough for anyone. In my humble opinion.

It depends on the type, I use silicone ones that start to melt into the shape of your ear canal via your own body heat, meaning that you can manipulate it to seal up your ear as much as possible.
That said, I usually only use them when in the hospital, hostels and so on where the snoring of others can sometimes normally sound like a small jet engine, so nothing too strenuous!

When were we in the same hospital at the same time?

Two days later than last year. Hope you purchased at least some of the above and that it won't be as bad this time round.

Van ready to deliver if you're willing to take delivery of some more.

I feel guilty as the parent of one who I know was up till 4am the night before. They seem to be in full on party mode. At least I know the neighbours are also students.

Maybe you did not choose the right place to live, you could try getting up maybe 6am or earlier, that way you will be able to sleep through anything 18 hours later. Sleep is a waste of life and needs to be as short as needed to top the batteries up only.
