If I hear blackbirds singing before dawn at this time of year I don't need to look out of the window to tell that it's been pouring down with rain. It's a good job they never learned to grumble.

I was clearing the garden of leaves and debris and found some snowdrops pushing up - I can see the white of the flower but they aren't ready to open yet....

If you can, varying your hours can help.
When doing my normal hours, I find that my commute in and out can be in the dark at this time of year.
But, by moving my day back an hour or so, I can get a light commute in, or by moving it forward I can get a light commute home. But not on the same day.
