Im almost set on buying this bike but just got a few queries before i splash the cash! Has anyone got this bike, or any other canyon for that matter, and if so how have you found it? I'm used to a triple on the triban but i'm edging towards a compact on the canyon with a 11-28 cassette. I must admit i've used the granny ring a couple of times on a serious hill, but can usually get away without it. Will i be ok with the compact? Also, how is the sizing chart that canyon use? I've got 54 triban which fits fine and i've been sized with a small with the canyon.

Much appreciated!

Fixed wheel fanatic.
I bought a canyon mountain bike a couple of months ago, their sizing was spot on, although it's a bit different for a mtb.

My friend bought an ultimate cf last year. His sizing is also good, although he felt it was shorter than his previous road bike. We've just ridden a rather hilly 72 miles in the lakes today and he went very well on it, so it must be ok! I've ridden it and it felt light and responsive, but I had just got off my 4 or 5 year old aluminium Trek.

I think with gearing, you just get used to what you've got. A compact isn't that much higher geared than a triple (in the lowest gears) and unless you are using the small ring a lot you'll probably just dig a bit deeper and get up the hill anyway. But I've never owned a compact, so what do I know!

FWIW - I believe 11-28 is plenty on a compact chainset & I run that combo myself.

Also - although you may have more gearing on your Triban triple - the weight loss/change to the Canyon will feel COLOSSAL !!

You will fly up them thar hills.

The build quality & groupset will be light years ahead too.

I viewed your link & though I have never ridden a Canyon their Rep in the cycling media is formidable.

At the price - your getting a £4k bike (from some brands) for less than half -
So don't delay - Buy today &

Don't forget to let us all know/Bragg about what we are missing.

Well the positive comments have certainly reassured me. I ordered it yesterday but even so, spending 2k on a bike for the first time is still a big step, after only previously buying a £300 bike! I had a few slights doubts after ordering it, but now i'm happy i did the right thing. Seriously can't wait for it to arrive!!
