The wonderful, but now elderly, WI ladies of Capheaton have run Capheaton Cafe, in the Village Hall, on a shoestring budget where prices haven't changed much since they opened and the cakes are all home made and delicious. Cyclists from Northumberland and Tyne and Wear know a good one and it's all been achieved quietly without fuss, so lovely to see them get recognition.
Their children and grandchildren are keeping it going in the same tradition, Bake Off would learn a thing or two from them.
