Pretty quick postage from the UK shop, mine arrived today. I just need to decide which bike to fit it to! 
Re removal, mine might be a slightly different design. It has a slot in the side of the cap part, so you can prise the thermometer out using a small screw driver. The gasket seems to have been redesigned from the one in the YouTube video as it slips into the cap more easily than it did for the bloke in the vid. The reason I was asking about the colour was because it looks like yours is brown.
Agreed, shame there isn't a version with just celsius.
