Nice 2010 polo, only thing is she wants the apps and stuff from phone in the car, sadly it's only the original digital stereo...not good enough for my princess !
Has anyone tried one of these screens that plug in and I'm guessing mirror your phone?
Such as this...

We have this in our cars but built in. The Android phones don’t get on100% with Apple car play which is in the car

I’d check if Apple or Android phone and buy something that is best with one or the other if that makes sense.

she wants the apps and stuff from phone in the car,
Why?
You can't use those apps whilst driving (safely/legally).

Play music/podcasts from the phone through the car "radio" (don't need a screen for that). Even navigation apps announce turns or mount the phone somewhere.

My phone is important to me when driving, always for music, occasionally for navigation and I do both without anything special but with a standard single DIN (small) old style car radio with a single line text that scrolls horizontally.

I have set my phone to announce text messages, e-mail subjects and similar messages and they automatically mute the music and announce the message and resume the music. That's a phone function irrespective of "car". ie if vitally important I can pull over when safe/convenient and deal with it. Same cheapo old style car radio also does hands-free voice for accepting incoming calls (outgoing calls need to pull over when convenient as it means looking at and tapping screen).

Or course if she needs to be tweeting/X'ing/Facebooking, etc. whilst driving then she'll need the full blown car phone screen thing. Safe? Legal?

If it has a 3.5mm audio socket you can get a Bluetooth unit that will enable connection for phone and music.
Apparently they work well. My brother used one for years in his previous car. He considered changing it but his solution worked well so no point. He uses navigation a lot as well. Often "bells & whistles" can default to being appealing but also often useful to consider what you actually need something to do and maybe why you need that and is it really useful and safe.

Many phones (except I only know iPhones) switch mode automatically in a car into a car mode anyway where it holds back many notifications not judged urgent so as to not distract you from driving. Can be disabled (I disabled it on my phone as I enable the announcement features so not distracting).

We have one of the 3.5mm converters for the Aygo. They work really well. Ugreen from Amazon.

This in spades, phones are NOT to be pratted about with when driving, no excuses, I see it several times a day, don't put temptation in her way,

If she a new driver, I think you can kiss your licence goodbye if caught playing with a phone

I thought the idea was that you are not using the phone but using an in car touch screen / connection to pick up texts, answer phone calls and all that.

Phone just sits there untouched.

Appreciate the advice regarding safety but it's not what I asked....I'm well aware of what's dangerous/illegal ect
I trust my daughters judgement on this.

And being distracted while driving, texts and phone calls are for when you aren't driving, not dealing with whilst in charge of a moving vehicle
