I don't think so , when I have done that the original reg is defaulted back to the car and the tax disc is re issued under that reg number.

Its been a few years since I last did it but am sure that's how it worked.

When you come to put the cherished reg back on a car , that car has to have a current tax disc on it , so that will be re issued with the new reg on with the existing term left on it.

OP never said Road Tax, he said Car Tax. Which is what VED is, a tax on the vehicle.
spot on ..CAR tax i said ,,,NOT,,ROAD tax

I get the impression that none of you Johnnies pay Road Tax.

One sees this occasionally on bicycling forums... Know-it-all fog horns who bang on about their rights and our wrongs and then it comes out that they (you) pay no Road Tax.

Really, you ought all to save up for a car or stop bleating. Bicycles are just sooo Communst China, 1973.

I haven't read this thread, but I hardly need to.

Pathetic! Need I say more?

They are just trying to provoke an argument Road Tax ended in 1937 it now all goes to pay for everything.
