Would isopropyl do it?
I would certainly give it a try. If you don't know what the grease is you can't really say what will dissolve it. The trick is to wipe once only and then discard the cloth/paper. Panel wipe (benzine) removes silicone and most of the stuff I've ever had on a windscreen.

Newspaper used to contain trace amounts of usable solvent but I have not tried that for years, the ink may have changed now that vegetable inks are in use. The routine was to wet a wad of newspaper with water and use that to scrub the windscreen. It works well for whatever oil splattered moths and flying termites leave on a windscreen. This oil was particularly tenacious but newspaper ink seemed to dissolve it nicely.

Well i got new wipers and they are 100% better..apparently volvo recommend wiper changes every few months..so maybe Kia are the same..the old blades look perfect and feel nice and sharp on the edge so maybe its just a degrading thing?
22 quid from MD but they are the fancy shrouded OE ones..so very reasonable ..

thanks for the replies @Yellow Saddle and @User9609

A good large dollop of washing up liquid on a micros fibe cloth, scrub hard over the screen and wash off with the wipers or a hose pipe, watering can etc. But to be honest I normally do the on wet rainy days and let the rian rinse it off. The improvements are huge.

For the inside I use deionized water and a clean microfibre.

Interesting. Why deionized and why particularly a microfibre cloth?

window cleaners use it 'deironized'with the pole systems..no scum on the glass when dry as theres nothing but water and that totally evaporates..tap water is full of all sorts that gets deposited on the window..

just a quick point..washing up liquid is brilliant as a windscreen cleaner applied as @screenman says, but dont put it in your washer bottle as it degreases the paint when its sprays over the car,so removes wax...
i think we all used it years ago but modern paint needs modern wax protection.

the wife swears by vinegar and newspaper..tho i think newspaper is just for poor people to wipe tharse..lol

The problem with using vinegar is that it leaves the car smelling like a chippy.... attractive to someone like @potsy maybe (helping cover up his Tranbant's other noxious fumes) but not for most people.

Makes you want fish and chips all the time..

Industrial strength sandpaper probably works a treat.
