Carbon forks/Front pannier combo?

Having just completed the Way of the Roses, I am now getting ideas beyond my capabilities and plan to do something more ambitious. This would involve camping , and all that goes with it, such as additional luggage. My Specialized Tricross (with carbon forks) already has a rear rack and panniers. I am wondering if it is possible to fit a pannier rack to carbon forks? I was thinking along the lines of this rack:

I just cringe a bit at the idea of tightening those "U" clamps around carbon (if they would fit in the first place as the forks are not round)! Help please...........

It has mudguard/rack eyelets; yes.

It all depends on how much weight you will have in your two front pannier bags. Could you not get a cheap steel forks just for your trip to be on the safe side

I've cantilevered five kilos off the back of a carbon seatpost. I did use a cut up slice of detergent bottle to protect the glaze, though.
