I've used a couple of layers of black electrical tape as a protector on my carbon, hardly notice it.
That is exactly what I put on as well. You can get matt or shiny tape but will have to shop around. A chain is a chain and is bound to come off at some point. If you hav`nt got one fitted already I would recommend a chain catcher.

I use helicopter/frame protector tape on mine.
You can get it in matt or gloss, clear or coloured.
Works a treat and is easily replaced.

well went in for the service , when asked if all was ok I explained what had happened and pointed out the damage straight away the member of sales called the manager he shook his head and without any prompting said a replace
ment would be ready for me to collect from the store within 10 days.
