Epoxy Resin repair on Carbon frame

The cost of the materials is low. The expensive part in a professional repair is the labour. It isn't especially difficult to produce a functional repair but producing something that is also aesthetically acceptable takes a lot of skill and time - which is what makes it expensive.

I've done a repair. Carbon fibre matting and resin. Came off the bike in a race and noticed a crack in the seat tube going from the top downwards for about six inches. I'd already written off a carbon frame and didn't want this to be the second. It wasn't a pretty repair but it worked. That was god knows how many years ago and it's still good to this day 👍

Yes, I've done it on a small, non-critical crack. It held for a while but eventually started to flex. The resin and carbon patches themselves aren't that expensive. The real cost is in the proper tools for a safe, permanent repair: sandpaper, vacuum bagging pump, and especially the proper curing oven. For a high-stress area like a frame, a pro repair is worth it for the safety and warranty. My DIY job was a temporary fix at best.
