Anyone offer any help to stop my carbon seatpost slipping?

I use a quick release clamp, but am afraid I might crush the post if I close it up too tight. Is there something I can apply to the post to stop it moving?

There might be something you can use, but I don't use anything and have had no problems. I think you would have to be very forceful when tightening to actually crush the seat post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can't remember which wise old owl posted on a thread i read but smeared honey with salt poured on the post...sounds like it could work!

Hairspray; or there's a proper carbon compound available for considerably more dosh. I'd recommend NOT using a QR clamping seatpost collar with a carbon post. Not at all, due to the clamping forces involved concentrated at one point of the collar.

I'd go for the Tacx compound, ditch the quick release mech and get a torque wrench - or ask your LBS mechanic to use his - to tighten it up correctly.
