Pretty embarrassed about this one: I hit a pedestrian while doing it this week. Slow-moving, temporarily stopped traffic queue and a driver waves her across (so she said afterwards anyway). Walked out directly in front of me and I hit her without having time to squeeze the brakes or anything. Don't know how quick I was going, not fast, but too fast for filtering in retrospect.
There's a traffic island right at that point, so pedestrians often cross there- there's shops, a car park, a bus stop there so always a few about. Normally I see their heads over the tops of the traffic and I'm ready for 'em. Not this time, I wasn't aware she was there at all. Can't remember whether I was looking at something else further up the road or not. There's a junction a bit further on.
Chest is a bit sore, I sort of fell onto the bike, bit of road rash on the elbow.
As for the woman I hit- I think she was OK (she got up pretty quickly and said she was OK anyway).
I ruined her lunch, her sandwiches ended up lodged in my front wheel.
