Hi , I have changed the forks on my Carrera virtuoso due to damage. The new forks are slightly bigger and the steering pin outer diameter is the same size how ever the inside is bigger, not sure of the correct terminology but the part in the picture which goes inside the steering rod (which tightens it up) seems too big. The old steering pin was metal and the new one is some sort of plastic and I'm worried if I force this part into it that it might break or snap the steering pin. Does anyone know if these come in different sizes. The internal diameter of the new steering pin is 26 mm, thanks in advanced, pictures included

If the steerer is carbon fibre, you need to use an expanding bung rather than the star-fangled nut from the old fork.

Is your new fork metal or carbon, or carbon fork with metal steerer?

Normally a star nut, metal is used with metal steerer and a rubber bung is used with carbon.

You may also need a different headset.
