Once I was asked directions which involved going round a one way system and finding the correct road at a five way junction, after giving the information, having nothing better to do, I nipped across town and was able to stand on the corner and point out the required road to the driver as he approached.
Reminds me of looking for a hotel in Swindon many years ago - pre Sat Nav era
I was with my Dad and the directions to the hotel were rather sketchy
so our plans involved the old "get as close as we can and ask someone" concept
anyway - we got somewhere that might be close and saw this bloke who looked like he might be a local
we told him the name of the hotel and asked if he knew here it was
He stopped for a monet an had a think then said
"now - you're not going to believ this
but follow these instructions are you will find it
go up to the roundabout ahead
turn left
then take the next FIVE left turns
and it is on your left"
Now he seemed to know what he was talking about so we thanked him and set off
as soon as we were away and the windows were closed we commented something like
"if that works we owe him a pint - but I can;t belive it will"
It did - he was perfect
we went back to that hotel a few times and always took that route - and mentally thanked that bloke
