If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd wonder if the introduction of e-bikes and e-scooters is part of some secret pro-motorist / anti-cyclist plot to discourage cyclists from using unpowered bicycles, get them using e-devices, and then ban them all because they're too dangerous. Then cyclists are off the roads: "problem" solved.

I can't quite remember where it is now but there are a couple of central london tube stations which require trip via a third station to change lines. Thing is they are only a couple of hundred yards apart so it is far quicker to walk. In fact you'd have to walk even further to get to the various platforms. Bill Bryson mentions them in one of his books

When we visit London these days (for social reasons or to see a show) we often walk between everywhere, unless it is late and the hotel some way away. You can walk from Victoria bus station or Paddington to Tower Bridge in an hour and a half and pretty much anywhere you are likely to be visiting is less distance than that

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
If I get off the Jubilee line at Bond Street and leave the station by the Hanover Square exit, it's an 8 minute walk inside the station to just get to the exit.

The reason is, it's an Elizabeth Line station and the Elizabeth Line Platforms are ginormous.

I must say I don't recognise the "London Conundrum" above as something that's common. I don't doubt that there are some places where it applies, but none that spring to my mind.

Mind you, walking is normally my first choice anyway. So maybe I just don't notice them.
