I learned in the 60s and stabilisers were definitely a thing then.
My dad used to tell the story that he thought he'd fool me by raising the stabiliser wheels bit by bit hoping I wouldn't notice. But I was wise to him and used to ride the bike leaning it at an alarming angle to keep one stabiliser wheel down. But once he took them off all together I was entirely happy to ride it normally.

Years ago, in the 90s, I was giving a demo of a system to some clients. Nearby was a server room with about for or maybe five machines in it. Naturally everything stopped working. I glanced over to the server room and all I could see was a blue glow. Inside it was like something out of 2001. Every single machine had BSOD'd
