I did my good deed for the day a few days ago by telling a lady who was looking worryingly at a car park machine until I pointed out the sign saying it is free
I think a campaign to have a central "app" or website for them all is called for

Apparently parking (well council ones anyway, which I guess includes on street parking) has to have at least one machine that takes cash. Not sure how enforced it is, but that's my understanding

That may be specific to your council. I don't think there is any national legislation requiring it.

I recently bought a new cycling raincoat which was delivered today.
If I wanted to track the parcel I would have had to download an app on my phone which I resisted!

Tesco also have an app based discount card, which a) only works via an app b) only works physically in store - it can't be used for online shopping.
Seems to be 1 step forward (app based) and one step back (physical shop only) depending on your point of view.
Is it that awful 'Shop' app?
A few places have attempted to foist that (cr)ap upon me to track a purchase..

I have one in my wallet - behind a see through bit
I often get my shop&scan (or whatever its called) using it after walking past people trying to get the rigth APP sorted to get the QR code
I am through into the shop before they get it sorted
of course they could get it while coming up the escalator ratehr than starting next to the scanners
but who am I to judge (but I will anyway!)

But isn't this quite a poor analogy? Clouds are part of nature: they will be there whether-or-not we lookup. And no man - young or old - can remove them.
But apps are man-made. Some human chose to make them. If we don't use them, their makers will take them away.
Am I wrong?
