Her story inspired Sebastian Faulks' 1999 novel Charlotte Gray and a 2001 film by the same title, with the lead role played by Australian actress Cate Blanchett.

What a special generation she came from. They just got on with the job of kicking shoot out of Hitler's boys without claiming to be heroic, or feeling the need to swear and spit in public to show how tough they were. The ones that are still alive must look at the scenes on the tv news of pampered, cosseted yobbos burning their ghettos and wonder if the sacrifices they made in the war were really worth it.
