Well, yeah, you'd expect that with Primark stuff.

Never bought anything else, but I've seen a few people mention that's just part of riding with jeans. If it is just a matter of buying a higher quality pair, then I'd rather do that because I've never really found jeans to be too uncomfortable except when it rains.

I've had pairs of Levis for years. In most things, you get what you pay for.

I have lived in Craghoppers Kiwi Stretch Pro.

Stretchy enough to cope with cycling, but smart enough for casual office wear

Those M and S chinos look ok, BUT, in common with all their trousers, they only go up to a 33" leg length. Anything over that and you're into the 'big and tall' (or whatever they call it) range. Until relatively recently their normal 'long' leg size was 34".

I really can't understand why they've done this - there are more tall people around now than ever.

The Union trousers are excellent. I haven't tried the M&S Chinos, but a friend who has both says they are very similar.
Did you find the Union34's shrunk quite a bit.

Mine are too short in the leg now after a few washes. On my experience I'd advise people to buy a longer leg than they would normally go for.

Other than that, they're dead comfy & unobtrusively poppered at the ankle

Yes, I got three pairs - buying a fruther two after getting the first pair for sizing. Should have waited until after the wash to buy more as all three are now too short and I was washing them at 30. I can just about get away with them if I stretch them while wet but I'd be buying longer sizes if I had the option. They also seem to be fading on the fly and pocket edges quite quickly. Other than the length I'm pleased with them having only paid £20 but I wouldn't be so impressed if I'd shelled out £100 a pair.

Checkout SWRVE trousers. I've a few of their products.
Another vote for SWRVE. I've got a pair of their cycling jeans. Good fit, good cut. Reflecty bit appears when you roll up the right leg to clear the chain. And I look as cool as a cool thing riding my fixie round town, sipping an espresso. Or so I like to think.

Went for a pair of Levi's in the end. Hopefully they will last well. My cheap Primark jeans kept fading out in a distinctly saddle-shaped patch, and very quickly too.
