Casual Cyclists in Hibernation

You overtake young women . I push hard to catch them up then sit back and admire the view.

I have to be carefull doing this, I just about killed myself once trying to catch up with a very fit young lady!

Ahhh, the changing seasons! I must ask, though, what is a "real cyclist?" Is it the competitive cyclist on a stripped road bike in full kit, hammering along in nice weather (but asks questions like "How do you STORE your bike for the winter?") or, perhaps, is it the little old man with full mudguards and pannier rack, who commutes in all weather including the ice and dreaded wind?

I think it is both of the described above who are the "real cyclist" I think it is to do with commitment. The "non'real cyclist" is the person who just brings the bike out for a few rides along a toe path in sunny weather and then does'nt look at the bike for another year.

I think anyone who cycles, even if only a little bit, is a real cyclist. More importantly, they are humans!

Since I've been riding the road bike, I now get the occasional nod from roadies who used to blank me out before!

Funny, these divisions, aren't they? As a recumbent rider, I get to wave at everyone, and most people wave back. That makes a few of the roadies, the snobby ones, grimace.
