Is it wrong to feel more upset about the loss of a beloved cat than one's own sibling - ?
I'm going to my sister's funeral today and am not feeling that upset about her death, but last week when we had to have my best feline friend put to sleep because of terminal cancer which had accelerated viciously into her brain & optic nerves her last couple of days and she was at the end, I was absolutely distraught.

Nope, not only the death of a pet but also a loss. Our indoor cat (Moses) decided he wanted to mooch off out behind my back. 2 days before I was to ride LEL. I was distraught and wouldn't have ridden if I hadn't had found him, luckily we did 12 hours later, cowering in a neighbour shed.
Before Moses we had Dave, it was so very, very tough having to put him to sleep due to old age and arthritis, he was such a wonderful, loving cat.

We lost 3 in 3 months, 1 due to cancer and 2 to old age...............2025 was a bad year.

a Siamese girl who I have the closest bond of any pet I have ever had. I am going to be almost suicidal when the day comes.
The same with myself & Satan who recently departed over Rainbow Bridge.
She's the sixth cat we've had to say goodbye to over the last 30 years, but has had the most profound effect on me. Her loyalty and affection was at a level I've never had with any other of our cats, past and present and I'm still getting weepy moments just thinking about her.
On Saturday we had a sympathy card form our vet practise, bu this one had been written by the vet who helped her go and had been the one who usually saw her so thus knew her the best. The wording was so sincere, personal & heartfelt, it really meant a great deal that the vet had taken the time and effort to do that.
The GLW later gave me a wee leather paw shaped key ring that has a lock of Satan's fur in which she'd done for me a couple of weeks ago and that means so much as it's even more personal. :smooch:
