I've used one, it's not really bright enough to see on unlit roads and cycle paths but perfectly adequate as a light to be seen with. I would also consider an RSP RX240 rechargeable front light.

I have those and I'd agree they seem to be fine as "be seen" lights. Don't know about waterproof as I'm a fair weather cyclist.

An old thread, but to throw more light on the topic ...

I was using two cateye front lights, the predecessors of the el530. May have been the el520 and I was very impressed. Had them for a couple of years then I managed to drop one and it broke. So I replaced it with the el530. They both are the same shape size, but the 530 was so much brighter. Very impressed.

On the website, there is now the 540. Just wonder how much brighter this will be?
