"The plan was simple - to get from Land's End to John O’Groats, by foot or by bike, without spending a single penny."
Very entertaining account, but not something I personally would want to experience!
Fair enough in the rich West, where it's a game, but not to be encouraged elsewhere.Proud2Push said:"The plan was simple - to get from Land's End to John O’Groats, by foot or by bike, without spending a single penny."
At one time you could probably do the Charity Shop challenge without spending a penny via frugal living, touring the charity shops, and buying up all the collectables and flogging them off. Not sure it's possible now, they're much smarter about the value of some of the stuff they sell.ASC1951 said:Fair enough in the rich West, where it's a game, but not to be encouraged elsewhere.
Like Dervla Murphy with her lifetime of sponging off the poor of the Third World, then making a very good self-indulgent living by writing books for Guardianistas about "the instinctive generosity of native people".
