Looking ok weather wise and should be a tailwind so yes considering riding through
You'll be departing in the pitch black :cold: ... looks like you'll be in need of cake BEFORE the official ride ;)
If you are riding all the way (or from somewhere like Linlithgow), the route to the Meadows posted on an earlier page (?) is probably not a bad choice ...
Here and Here and Here and Here and Here are some routes between the Commie and various places to the west, most of them but not all using similar route choices between Cramond and the Commie...
Or you could aim to join the Fife boys near the FRB ...

7:30 should be fine for daylight, that's about sunrise :sun:time at the moment  ... and I'm about half way to work during weekdays.
I was thinking of a time when I'd have to leave Weegieland if I wanted to be at the Commie for 10:15 .

Can we do a roll call please - so we know who to wait for at the Commie and who will go straight to the RV for a late lunch & cake? The slight complication being that the person with the keys to the RV location (me :girl:) is going on the ride, so we'd have to keep those of you heading straight for the RV posted on our progress ... I COULD turn round a wee bit earlier and head back to the RV for a set time if necessary while everybody else carries on to the Gladhouse reservoir.

Meeting up at the Commie Pool 10:15:

So let me get this right are we meeting at the pool or telemarks house?

You have two options (as per the roll call a couple of posts above), the important thing is that you say which one you are choosing :
  1. Those going on the CC Ecosse ride to Gladhouse reservoir :bicycle::bicycle::bicycle: meet at the Commie Pool for 10:15 (as per 1st post of this thread), and we go to Chez T together after the ride for food. ... (you are welcome to drop off stuff at our place beforehand, but let me know)
  2. Those just wanting to meet up for a late lunch :hungry: and travelling to Chez T independently - please tell us, so we don't wait for you at the Commie and so we can let you know if there are any delays with the ride arriving back to Chez T ...

There is this, which has some 'navigation' to be done and best to have a back-up city map.

Because maison Scoosh is further east, I go this way, keeping to the Quietest Route, which might be a bit further but with the others taking you either round the RAB at the top of Leith Walk  or past Waverley Station :headshake: ..... I like to keep it safe and simple. :heat:

The route I take is easy for you to find and, as it comes near maison Scoosh, I might even be able to meet you  and give you an escort point you in the right direction !

Looks like you take the Goldenacre Path up to Rodney Street Tunnel then backstreets from there? If that's right I know my way to the tunnel, that's where I pop out at Tesco and go up Broughton Street - could we meet you at a set time in that area, say entrance to tunnel? If we were leaving at 08:30 we should be there round about 09:30.

I DO sort-of know where I'm going in that I cycle to the centre of town and know where the pool is, however if there is a better/quieter route then all well and good - stop you moaning that I've got you lost in the big city... ;)

Do we need to offer a collection & delivery service from Waverley to the Commie Pool?
Are all you Westies arriving on the same train? Looks like the 8:54 from GQS arriving 9:58 into Waverley (unfortunately one of the slower ones) is the best choice if you don't want to hang around outside the Commie for too long. It only takes 5-10 minutes to cycle there, including the traffic light stops...
There is also a cafe with facilities at the Commie if required...

And you'd be welcome if you want to drop off some stuff (such as warm clothes for the train journey home?) at our place before the ride.
I'll PM my mobile number & address in a bit.

I'll take the 0900 via Falkirk High - those trains are much nicer. Comes into Waverley 0951.

I plotted an easy route to the pool (Up Jeffrey St and then just straight ahead), so do not need navigational aid.

See you all tomorrow.
