I think I remember recommending this route. Arran figure of 8 doing the south end first. I think its about 75 miles.

Another good day out is the 5 ferries route. Quite tough in places but some great scenery

i'm guessing that you just cycled back up to wemyss bay after getting off at ardrossan?

We left the cars at Ardrossan and cycled up to Wemyss Bay. Road was quiet on a Sunday morning and we had a wee tailwind

Me too, although i bit the bullet and took out the works C2W scheme again, didn't want to as the top limit is £500 but after some digging about found that quite a few lbs will take the Halfords voucher that i get, so it opens up a few more bikes rather than the carerra range although the Vanquish is still on the radar.
Choice is now Scott, Trek or Carerra, unless halfords drop the Boardman price sometime soon
still saving for the 'Sunday' bike though

i have the carerra tdf good wee bike ideal for winter/training bike but will upgrade to something a bit more exotic next spring

When we did it on a forum ride we headed south and looped to Brodick its a great descent, we then looped to the north of the Island and back over the String to Brodick, IIRC ArranAndy thought that was best and he wasn't wrong

I'm surviving; its a bit flat down here but I've found some better bits up Rutland, etc and PCC is a good club :-) The hills down around Peterborough are short enough to be tackled in the 52t.
Yeah, it was a C+ ride.
