Anyone interested in riding up and down a lot of hills this weekend?

Starting from my house in Plains we'll be going up towards Avonbridge, the same route as the PFS, then cutting over to the right to Blackridge.

From Blackridge over a little used back road towards Kirk O Shotts then back from there to Plains.

It's about 25 miles, hardly any of it flat and a lot of it very hilly! The roads are all quiet, most almost deserted, and, apart from short sections, of decent quality. Bit muddy past a few of the farms.

Time not set yet but probably early Friday or Saturday morning. Anyone interested in tagging along just drop me a PM :0)

Keep you posted but it probably will be Saturday morning, nice and early to keep the rest of the day free. Obviously you can use the loo etc at my house and I'll make you some tea and toast when we get back ;0)

...sounds good!!!!.....had a look at the route you have planned, and I think it would probably make sense for me coming from Bonnybridge to cycle up through Slamannan and meet you on the Caldercruix/Lochside Road junction to Limerigg....do the loop with you, and then head back home the same way...does that make sense????

I'm sure that would be fine. I assume you have a road bike then? How good do the roads need to be for one of those, I've never had one? One section is very bad, broken tarmac and a gravel track for a short bit. Would a road bike cope? would could avoid that section if need be.

Bob, who I cycle with, is casting doubts on Saturday, I think his wife is busy. If need be would Sunday suit?

..yes it's a roadie....broken road & loose gravel track isn't ideal, but if it's a short stretch it should'nt be a major problem...
...I'm afraid Saturday morning is the only option for me this weekend, and I had intended going out anyway....so it's not a problem if you and your mate opt for the Sunday...

as far as I'm concerned I'll be doing a loop from Stirling on the 19th with whoever turns up!

Pig, the current proposed route is a flat 75km (50m) with the option of another 15km (10m) taking in tak ma doon road if we're in good shape by Fintry.

I think there's me, you Jassy, Goo, Gavin and his wife work permitting, Noodley?, HlaB, Magnatom and Melvil if his plans change. Plus anyone else I may have missed of course.

Not heard from Hairy Jock and Dayvo has yet to book his flights over ;)

But as I say, I'll be doing a ride that day in whatever way that maximises forummer turnout.

I would think about 7:20 to 7:30 but I'll ask Bob and see what he recons. We ride these roads all the time but I've never noticed how long it takes to get there, Bob might know.

I'll have to see what shape I'm in nearer the time for the 100k one, I've not done that distance for ages, well not without pain anyway! ;0) Flat? Are we living in the same country? ;0)

Yip, he reckons about twenty to thirty minutes too. Are you sure you'll not feel like you'd be quicker walking than cycling next to us on mountain bikes?
