..a long way from somewhere called Home..
will i need 2 cone spanners for that?

not necessarily... but you may need different sizes for front and rear
i bought 1 cone spanner and held the locknut with a good quality adjustable spanner
but 2 are easier

suggested you read --

SHELDON BROWN...................

just take your time .. make a quick drawing of bits in the order they are removed
if you have QR hubs, pay attention to the hints about tightening them, which '' compresses the axle slightly and so tightens the cone a TINY bit ''
don't mix up the ball bearings - replace the same side they came out [ I'm told.!]

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have a subway as well and when i change the cassette i will go for a smaller range , maybe a max of 25 teeth as i never use the small or middle chain rings and less than half the block normally.Mind you i am guilty of grinding ala Chris Horner stylee and will regularly go up hills on the big ring on the roadie.
