If you look at the Sheldon pic I posted and my first post. You will see that what Sheldon (and Zinn) call 1 full link is 1 large and 1 small link, which looking at the Shimano tech doc, the same as what they call 2 links.
Of which if you read my first post is what I did in the first place

Same as Sheldon (&Zinn) 1 link

That's not what is2 links to a engineer

However for 27 t or less the angle of derailleur as per diagrams will work .( or 2 real links )
